Supervisor Hilda L. Solis’ statement on $3 million grant towards Bassett Park improvements

Los Angeles County Supervisor Hilda L. Solis released the following statement after the Board of Supervisors approved her allocation of $3,000,000 of First District Measure A (1996) discretionary grants to the Bassett Park General Improvements Project:

“Every family deserves a high-quality neighborhood park. This $3 million investment will revitalize this heavily-utilized park, enhancing Bassett Park programming and resources. This comprehensive revitalization of Bassett Park ensures that current and future generations will be able to have fun year-round.

In addition to providing much-needed recreational programming and community space for residents, Bassett Park also operates as an augmented shelter in inclement weather. Today’s community investment enables continued use for many years moving forward.”

Improvements to Bassett Park will include a rehabilitation of the park buildings, including the senior center community building, gymnasium, restroom, courtyard, and related spaces; enhance general lighting to improve public safety; repair mechanical and plumbing issues; restore two synthetic soccer fields, and other related improvements.
